I wanted to learn karate for self-defense and exercise. I was scared to start, but since starting, I have more confidence. I have really learned a lot. Karate is a lot of work, but it is fun!

Shuri-Ryu is an authentic traditional martial arts that combines karate, jujitsu, and kobudo (weapons) with the mental and physical discipline of training the mind and body. By combining ancient traditional disciplines with modern principals of physical exercise, anaerobic, aerobic, and flexibility one can achieve a balance of the body, mind, and spirit.
The Shuri-Ryu style of karate is the oldest style of karate practiced today. It is balanced with mental and physical skills. The benefits one gets from continued study of karatedo are far beyond a stronger, healthier body. The mental awareness and strength of spirit is a gradual process and will continue to influence personal confidence, discipline, and your desire to improve.
